Unusual four-legged creatures found at golf course

Two hinnies, a cross between a stallion and a female donkey, were found about two weeks ago. Deputy Dean Fjeld said officials corralled the pair and took them a city pasture. So far, no one has claimed them. Fjeld said if the owners don’t show up, there’s a chance the animals could be auctioned.

City of Aiken to stay out of golf course battle

LeDuc said City Council members discussed the issue during an executive session after Monday’s City Council meeting and decided not to get involved, but it will continue to monitor the situation. LeDuc did not completely rule out any assistance to residents from the City concerning Laurel Course in the future but said Council members decided Monday that there are still too many questions surrounding the golf course at this point for the City to get involved. The possibility that Laurel Course could close has some residents near the golf course concerned that their home values could decline. Several e-mails have circulated among Houndslake residents discussing details about plans for the course to close, as well as any future actions that could be taken.
