The 39-year-old Scot finished five shots ahead of Kristy McPherson of the United States who finished at 1-under for the tournament after shooting even par on Sunday’s final round at the Itanhanga Golf Club. “When you play well you don’t feel tired” Matthew said after her round. “Maybe tomorrow I will feel it a bit. “She started the final round with a birdie on the first hole and a bogey on the second but was able to build her lead with birdies on the fifth sixth and 14th holes. She also shot 69 on Saturday.

Using the Fort Sheridan property for a golf course would be contrary to the interests of the taxpayers of the county as a whole. Golf play is down nationally; more courses are closing than opening. The national economy is fragile and constructing a new golf course especially a “high end” one sends the wrong message to the people of Lake County who support public access and restoration on forest preserve sites. The argument that property values of the area homeowners would be hurt if a golf course was not constructed may have some merit. But would a high-quality nature center at Fort Sheridan which would draw from an area far greater than a golf course hurt property values? Just living adjacent to or near a Lake County Forest Preserve site will enhance values.
