May 23 2009 Point Loma Nazarene senior Sam Cyr shot even-par 71 yesterday in the fourth round to win his second straight individual title in the NAIA Men’s National Golf Championships in Silvis Ill. Cyr is the first golfer to win back-to-back NAIA championships since Jamie Burns of North Florida did so in 1992 and ’93. Cyr who won for the 12th time in his college career was the only player in the 151-man field to finish under par on the TPC at Deer Run layout. Cyr had a 2-under 282 total and beat Armando Villareal of Texas Wesleyan by three shots. Cyr’s victory was forged on Thursday when he shot a tournament-best 67 in the third round.
